It’s not often you see the owner of a professional sports team choose to suit up with the squad and play actual games, but it looks like that’s exactly what former NFL star receiver Antonio Brown is doing for the Albany Empire arena football league team.
According to a report from Rodger Wyland, Antonio Brown plans to suit up and play for the Albany Empire – the arena football team that he owns.
“Albany Empire Owner Antonio Brown told me he is going to suit up and play for the Empire as soon as their next home game May 27th at MVP Arena. Brown is a 7 time NFL Pro-Bowler WR who played 10 years with the Steelers,” Wyland said in a tweet.
The Albany Empire has recently been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons after players and coaches claimed that they were not paid for several weeks and several key players were either removed from the roster or left the team.
Especially given the circumstances, Brown’s return to the football field is big news, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.
Oh good Lord. It’s like NASCAR. You don’t want to watch but feel you have to so you don’t miss the catastrophic wreck

This will cause me, if possible, to actually watch less Albany Empire football. https://t.co/8KhcXgTGAO

It will certainly be interesting to see how this plays out for Brown and the Albany Empire.
