Heading into the 2023 NFL Draft, former Florida Gators star quarterback Anthony Richardson was one of the most hotly-debated prospects of all the top quarterbacks in the draft, given his obvious physical tools but lack of success or production at the college level. But it sounds like SEC coaches still expect him to thrive at the next level.

This week, Adam Rittenberg of ESPN spoke to several SEC coaches about Anthony Richardson, and they seemed to agree that he could have plenty of success at the next level if he develops well.

“He’s a great talent, and if they can get him to improve the accuracy and the decision-making, then he’ll turn out to be incredible,” said a defensive coordinator who faced Richardson last season, according to Rittenberg.

One SEC coordinator even went as far as to compare him to legendary NFL quarterback Michael Vick, who starred in the league for years as a dual-threat quarterback.

“I love the Colts taking him because of the scheme,” an SEC coordinator said. “They’ll let him get outside the pocket. He’s like a bigger version of Mike Vick.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how Richardson develops in the league given his obvious talent and athleticism.
