The NFL is returning to Germany in 2023. The league revealed on Thursday that the country will host two games next season in Frankfurt and Munich. Thus far, the NFL designated the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots to play in those games. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke on that announcement and delivered his thoughts on the game, rather succinctly.
“I look forward to getting a bratwurst,” Reid said by way of ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
I mean, when in Rome, right? Germany is the home to bratwurst, a popular (and frankly, extremely tasty) sausage that is also found prominently in the state of Wisconsin. It’s best enjoyed with caramelized onions (and certainly a beer, but don’t take my word for it). So the Chiefs coach is on the money with that recommendation. You can never go wrong with a bratwurst.
The NFL world didn’t waste any time laughing at the hilarious quote from Reid.
Ryan Macdonald considered it the most on-brand Andy Reid quote of all time.
Kayla Knierim then boldly said that we don’t deserve Andy Reid.
Brandon H. hilariously tweeted a GIF of Reid and said, “Andy Reid once he discovers the Currywurst.” (Indisputably, a great sausage)
Jay Janower touted the response from Reid, saying, “This is the kind of honesty you truly respect…”
George Foster, a former NFL player, joked that Reid was seeking authenticity.
“He’s just like me,” wrote Nick Stellini later.
