The Cleveland Browns are coming off of a major win against the Cincinnati Bengals to start the season and are looking to make it two consecutive wins over AFC North division rivals against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night, but it sounds like they’ll be without a key contributor on the offensive side of the ball.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Amari Cooper is “unlikely to play” in Monday night’s game against the Steelers after aggravating an injury during practice this week.
“Browns’ WR Amari Cooper, who aggravated a groin injury at practice Saturday and is listed as questionable for Monday night, is considered unlikely to play vs. the Steelers, per source,” Schefter wrote on Sunday.
It’s pretty brutal news for the Cleveland Browns, and the NFL world had plenty to say about their misfortune on social media as a result.
Not good news for the Browns here. Big game for Elijah Moore and DPJ. https://t.co/2LHezfUixX

Both teams without their #1 targets. Should be a battle of the trenches. https://t.co/saCteuEh6C

The Browns will also be without star offensive tackle Jack Conklin after he suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Bengals last week, so it will certainly be interesting to see how the team’s offensive performance is impacted by injuries to such crucial players and whether or not other players can emerge to fill the void.
