New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson appeared quite frustrated to be apart of the organization last season in the rollercoaster of a season the Jets had with Aaron Rodgers manning the starting quarterback position. But it seems like now that Rodgers is out of town, Wilson couldn’t be happier to stay in New York for the long haul.

Parting ways with Rodgers after a far from impressive run in New York was the obvious decision that had to be made for the Jets. And his replacement, Justin Fields, was someone who Wilson has an incredibly close bond with dating back to their collegiate days at Ohio State.

This replacement seems to have been enough for Wilson to agree to a long-term extension in New York, signing a four-year, $130 million contract extension on Monday that includes $90 million guaranteed for Wilson.

Wilson hasn’t spoken publicly as to what his reasoning for signing the extension with the Jets was. But according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it may very well have been the Jets’ decision to get rid of Rodgers.

Breaking down the trade on NFL Network on Monday, Rapoport suggested that Wilson “probably would have requested a trade” if the Jets had brought back Rodgers for another season.

“Instead of requesting a trade like he probably would’ve done if Aaron Rodgers was back, he is now not going anywhere,” said Rapoport.

Naturally, there were plenty of reactions to this comment from Rapoport, questioning just how difficult Rodgers may be to work with if Rapoport’s comments is to be believed.

Only time will tell whether Rodgers has more success with his new team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in 2025. But after this comment from Rapoport, Steelers fans have to be hoping that Rodgers won’t alienate any star players in Pittsburgh during his tenure with the team.
