Week 1 of the college football season is well underway, and it’s already produced a highlight that may stand up as one of the most impressive catches of the year. That was Texas Tech Red Raiders receiver T.J. Vasher’s one-handed catch against Ole Miss, which brought up memories of the famed one-handed grab Odell Beckham Jr. made in the NFL in 2014:

Here’s that Beckham catch for comparison:

There are plenty of similarities there, from the backwards leap to the one-handed grab to the proximity to the sidelines. And Vasher’s catch here fits right in with some of the other best onehanded grabs over the years, in both college and the NFL. It’s also one of four catches he had for a team-high 66 receiving yards through the end of the third quarter. But the Red Raiders are in a tight battle with Ole Miss, trailing 37-27 after that third frame. We’ll see if Vasher has any more great grabs in store.
