It’s been a fascinating 24 hours at Texas A&M. The Aggies baseball team lost to Tennessee in the Men’s College World Series Final. Then, EA Sports named Kyle Field the Toughest Place to Play in College Football 25. To add to that craziness, A&M lost their baseball coach … to rival Texas.
The Longhorns will hire Jim Schlossnagle, the former Aggies coach, to the same position. Rumors swirled over the past few days about this, and on Tuesday, it became a reality.
Chip Brown reported the news of Schlossnagle’s hire.
Brown said on X, “Jim Schlossnagle is leaving College Station to become the new baseball coach of the Texas Longhorns.”
Schlossnagle has been one of the most successful college baseball coaches of the 21st century, certainly among those who haven’t taken home the NCAA Championship. Schlossnagle made numerous appearances in the College World Series with both A&M and the TCU Horned Frogs, where he coached from 2004 to 2021.
Depending on what side of the fence you reside on, you might have a lot to say about this move. And you might either be excited … or, in Aggies fans cases, incensed about it. Especially after Schlossnagle made very public comments about the job, which A&M fans sped back on.
