One of the biggest storylines of the College Football offseason has been the budding rivalry between Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher and Alabama coach Nick Saban.

The feud between the two initially sparked when Saban called out a number of schools including Fisher’s regime at Texas A&M on their recruiting tactics regarding the school providing huge NIL deals to land top recruits.

It has turned into a war of words with the coaches going back to forth on criticizing each other’s character between Saban and Fisher, and one anonymous SEC coach says that this could be a brilliant tactic by Fisher to get the program talked about.

He discussed Fisher’s feud with Saban and proceeded to send a huge dig at the Texas A&M program in the process.

“Jimbo Fisher might be a mad genius when it comes to media because they get talked about alongside Georgia and Alabama, and they’re every bit an 8–4 program. He knows it, too, but I think that’s part of the plan.”

The program has only finished above 8-4 once in the last three seasons, so the comments aren’t exactly unjustified, though they may be a bit harsh.

In the SEC preseason media poll, the program was picked to finish in second place behind Alabama in the SEC West division.

While Texas A&M has traditionally struggled against Alabama, they were able to hand the program their only regular season loss last year in a shocking upset.

It should certainly set up for an exciting matchup between the two when they face off in the 2022 college football season on October 8th at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
