Former USC head coach Steve Sarkisian has filed a $30 million lawsuit against the university over the handling of his firing reports TMZ Sports.
TMZ reports that Sarkisian believes USC broke the law by firing someone with disabilities. His attorney told the site “alcoholism is a recognized disability under California law. So firing somebody because of that disability is against the law.”
Sarkisian was announced to take an indefinite leave of absence from the team in October after multiple alcohol-related incidents, one of which was allegedly showing up drunk to a practice and getting sent home. He was fired the next day for violating the school’s zero-tolerance policy.
Joe Schad of ESPN reports Sarkisian has completed rehab and is sober and looking to get back into coaching. He says he was inspired by C.C Sabathia’s announcement that he’ll be seeking treatment for his own battle with alcoholism.
Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports reports Sarkisian has claimed numerous breaches in the firing.

Oddly enough, Sarkisan’s complaint also quotes…a Bleacher Report coaching evaluation?
Schad reports Sarkisian is seeking at least $12.6 million in damages. This is going to get really messy.
