Afterward, Bennett spoke with reporters and said he was extremely pleased with his performance.
“It felt nice after that last game that we had,” Bennett said. “We came out and executed. Especially the first half. I mean it felt awesome, there’s not much else I can say.”
The big question with Georgia this season, and any season, is whether or not they can finally get over the hump and win a national title. They’ve come close many times, even losing to Alabama in the national title game in 2018, but they haven’t been able to put it together in four decades. Bennett feels positive about this team’s chances to do it and silences some “other people” out there.
“You put your head down and you work every single day,” Bennett said. “There’s a lot of words coming out from other people, but these right here, they never say anything, they just come to work every single day and they’ve got my back, and it makes it really easy.”
As far as what Georgia’s ceiling is as a program, Bennett says the goal is obvious and they’re going to do whatever they can to make it happen.
“Hopefully to win it,” Bennett said. “I think we’re good enough. Obviously, they’re a great team, but yeah, we’re going to enjoy this one tonight and then start preparing for them tomorrow.”
Alabama and Georgia will meet at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 10, 2022, to determine this season’s national champion.
