Montana State quarterback Dakota Prukop will transfer to Oregon for his final season of eligibility, according to Fox Sports.
Prukop, who has already graduated and will be eligible to play right away in 2016, chose the Ducks over Alabama, Michigan and Texas.
“I was blown away how welcoming everyone at Oregon was — the players and the coaches,” Prukop said. “It reminded me of the connections I have with a lot of my teammates at Montana State. They’re so confident in themselves, they’re just relaxed. Being around them, you can tell they’re special athletes. It made me feel like they’re just one piece away from completing the puzzle. I felt like I just fit in with them. The guys on that team, they get it. They have outstanding cast of really competitive guys and even better dudes. I developed a great rapport with Coach [Mark] Helfrich and Coach [Matt] Lubick, and they put their trust in me. They didn’t put any pressure on me. I felt like they understand what makes me tick.”
Prukop threw for 3,025 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2015 and rushed for 797 yards and 11 touchdowns. Despite these impressive stats, the FCS-division Bobcats finished the season 5-6.
At Oregon, Prukop will likely replace Vernon Adams, another graduate transfer, who arrived from Eastern Washington in 2015 who had a solid year after having a bumpy start due to injuries and missing some time early in the season.
According to ESPN’s Chantel Jennings, Prukop has yet to be admitted to Oregon and still needs to pass the GRE.
Prukop a big quarterback who can also run and should be a good fit for Oregon’s fast-paced offense. It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that a talented quarterback chose to play in Oregon’s quarterback utopia over Alabama’s running back-dominated ground and pound offense, but beating Bama in any arena is cause for celebration.

It will be interesting to see if the Ducks find success with the hired gun transfer approach in searching for high level QB play post Mariota or if they’ll revert to focusing more on less experienced talent from within the program. Either way you get a sense why Prukop was so highly sought after in this highlight video below.
