The South Dakota State Jackrabbits — six-point underdogs — took down the Washington State Cougars on a buzzer-beater Saturday in Spokane, WA.
With the game tied 74-74, South Dakota State’s Baylor Scheierman drilled a long stepback three as time expired to give the Jackrabbits a victory.
This is a nasty move by Scheierman, and he made the Washington State defender do the splits:
Scheierman had 11 points for the Jackrabbitts, and Noah Freidel led the way with 23 points.
While the Jackrabbits were underdogs in this game, they actually have one of the best offenses in the country, ranking 13th overall in offensive efficiency per KenPom. That’s behind only Purdue, Gonzaga, Kansas, Villanova, Baylor, Iowa, Ohio State, UCLA, North Carolina, Duke, Alabama, and Houston- all big-time college hoops programs.
So, South Dakota State is definitely a name to circle when thinking potential upsets come March.
