The Oklahoma Sooners were back on top of the Big 12 mountain in 2016, earning the conference title with a 38-20 victory over in-state rival Oklahoma State on the final weekend of action. Celebrations and happiness abounded.
It also meant a tenth conference title since the Big 12’s formation back in 1996 and another glass bowl trophy to put in the case in the football offices. However, it also appears that the trophies are getting a new home…well, at least nine of the ten are.
You see, some staffer moving them decided to put them a bunch of trophies on a dolly cart and roll them down the sidewalk and over the bumps that are at the bottom of the cross-walk path. Naturally the inevitable happened and a trophy broke.
Sooners offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley was on hand to capture it all as well and he sent out perhaps the greatest Tweet reaction to a broken trophy in the history of Twitter.
Bad News: The Big 12 Championship Trophy was broken today.
Good News: We have 9 others.#BoomerSooner pic.twitter.com/TeXnur0RTn

Smartest moving guy in the history of college football right? I mean, let’s put glass trophies on a dolly cart and wheel it down a bumpy sidewalk with all sorts of things that could (and did) go wrong.
No word on what happened to the staffer, but we’re guessing it won’t be a fun rest of the weekend in the football-obsessed area of Norman, Oklahoma.
Let this be a lesson to all of you college athletic department staffers — dolly carts are never an appropriate form of transportation for trophies. NEVER. Just carry them one at a time and make sure the priceless trophies don’t break.
