The NC State Wolfpack — a 10.5-point underdog — overcame kicking woes to take down No. 9 Clemson 27-21 in double overtime on Saturday in Raleigh, NC.
NC State junior kicker Christopher Dunn went 0-for-3 on field goal tries, with the final miss coming from 39 yards out to conclude regulation with the game tied.

But in the second overtime period (after each team scored touchdowns in the first overtime), NC State quarterback Devin Leary connected with Devin Carter in the back corner of the end zone for a Wolfpack touchdown. A great throw, and an even better catch.

Clemson then got their chance to score on the ensuing possession, but a D.J. Uiagalelei pass fell incomplete on 4th-and-5. Fans at Carter-Finley Stadium stormed the field to celebrate NC State’s upset victory, the Wolfpack’s first win over a top-10 team since 2012.

The NC State win also snaps Clemson’s 36-game winning streak vs unranked teams. Additionally, Clemson will fall out of the AP top-10 after the next poll comes out, snapping a streak of 97 straight appearances in the top-10.
Clemson falls to 2-2 on the season, and they needed a goal-line stand in the final seconds to beat unranked Georgia Tech 14-8 last weekend. So, Dabo Swinney’s squad clearly has a long, long way to go in order to get close to being the Clemson team we’re used to seeing (and losing Trevor Lawrence to the NFL certainly hurt on that front).
On the other side of things, it’s a massive win for Dave Doeren and the NC State program. The Wolfpack improve to 3-1 (1-0 in ACC play) with the victory.
