The LSU Tigers came into Tuesday’s game against Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns as the No. 1 ranked team in the country. That may not be the case after an unreal upset absolutely shocked the Tigers.
Louisiana had to overcome some early adversity in this game that truly showed that they were here to compete.
LSU would strike first on an RBI triple with two outs in the bottom of the first to take an early lead in the game.
It didn’t take long for Louisiana to answer with their own impressive offense in this game. They would break a 2-2 tie in the top of the third inning with a two-run home run from Heath Hood in the top of the third inning.
This would be a lead that they would not relinquish. They went on to add four more runs and ultimately come away with an 8-5 victory, in large part thanks to another two-run home run in the seventh inning from outfielder Conor Higgs.
Beating the No. 1 ranked team is obviously an impressive feat. To do so against an in-state rival like Louisiana did makes it even sweeter.
Many around the college baseball world took to social media to share their shock at this wild upset victory for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
This upset adds to a crazy list of upsets this midweek where nine ranked teams fell to unranked opponents, including No. 4 Vanderbilt and No. 10 Louisville.
