Jackson State was given a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty after a touchdown on Sunday against Bethune-Cookman… because of their mascot.
A little pileup took place in the end zone after a Jordan Johnson diving touchdown reception in the third quarter, and the Jackson State mascot decided to join in on the action.
While this is a pretty harmless move, it’s not going to slip by the No Fun Police that are the college football referees. So, the mascot’s antics resulted in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty for Jackson State.
And that penalty summarized how things went for Jackson State in the rest of the game. The 15-7 lead ultimately became a 36-15 loss to Bethune-Cookman.
