On Thursday night, Gonzaga senior guard Jordan Mathews drained the go-ahead three in the Bulldogs’ 61-58 Sweet 16 victory over West Virginia.
And perhaps Mathews was prepared for such a moment in the spotlight at a very young age.
When Mathews was three years old, he had a guest role on an episode of Teletubbies with his father Phil, the head coach of the University of San Francisco basketball team at the time (Phil is currently the head coach Riverside City Community College).

Mathews was 3 years old when he joined his father Phil, then the head coach at USF, on an episode of “Teletubbies” shot inside the gym.
“It’s going to be weird going back,” Mathews said. “It’s on YouTube. Look up Teletubbies basketball and it’s there. My mom watches it all the time.”
