Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker is currently on the physically unable to perform list (PUP list) due to a shoulder injury he suffered in June.
And during Monday night’s Lions-Giants game, ESPN’s Sean McDonough and Jon Gruden were talking about Decker’s injury hurting Detroit’s offensive line, when McDonough referred to Decker being a former first-round pick “out of the University of Michigan.”
Small problem there: Decker played college football at Ohio State, not Michigan. We’re only talking about a mix-up of the biggest rivalry in college sports here.
Understandably, Decker wasn’t happy about this, and reacted on Twitter to McDonough’s miscue:
McDonough should know better, especially considering that he’s called Ohio State-Michigan games over the years. Perhaps he got Decker confused with former Michigan offensive lineman Taylor Lewan, a 2014 first-rounder currently playing for the Tennessee Titans.
Incredibly, there was a slip-up just like this in January, when Kevin Harlan said during a Wizards-Knicks game that former Michigan point guard Trey Burke played at Ohio State.
