The Eastern Michigan Eagles were in some trouble at home late against the FCS Central Connecticut State Huskies Saturday, trailing 29-28 in the final minutes after throwing an interception with 1:15 left on the clock. But the Eagles (who beat Power Five team Illinois last week) then forced a fourth down, and Central Connecticut State went to punt it away from their own 40 with 18 seconds left. And Eastern Michigan receiver Mathew Sexton then made an incredible play, getting through the blockers, blocking the punt, and taking it to the house for what would prove the game-winning touchdown, giving the Eagles a 34-29 win. Here’s that play:

Another highlight came after the game, where EMU defensive end Desmond Kelly proposed to his girlfriend on the field:

This game had everything, from lightning strikes to power outages, and it wound up with a wild finish. And that wound up leading to a cool proposal moment for Kelly. But he should have a whole lot of thanks for Sexton after this, as without that game-saving punt block, the mood probably wouldn’t have been quite right.
