The topic of transgender athletes in women’s sports has been a hot topic as of late, as states have increasingly made their ruling on the matter. And the administration for U.S. President Joe Biden recently spoke on the matter, leaving more questions than answers on how they will potentially handle the topic in the future.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked earlier this month if the Joe Biden administration agreed with Republican presidential contender Nikki Haley, who called transgender women in women’s sports the “women’s issue of our time.”
Jean-Pierre didn’t give a clear answer to this question, rather opting to call the topic “a complicated issue” with “no yes or no answer”.
The topic was discussed on Fox News on Tuesday, where Lee University volleyball player Macy Petty, who is also an ambassador for Young Women for America, spoke on the issue and blasted the Biden administration for their stance.
“The Concerned Women for America presidential promise is very simple. It confirms that sex is binary and only women can get pregnant. I am looking forward to seeing candidates continue to sign this and promise that these truths will be upheld. I am sick of the current administration just leaving women behind as they cater to the one percent that identifies as transgender.”
Petty then continued on to blast the statement from Jean-Pierre, saying that the issue is not complicated like the Biden administration claims it to be.
“I say that it is not complicated. They are called girls sports for a reason. They are only for girls. It is embarrassing frankly to sit here as an American and a female athlete to have the President of the United States sit here and celebrate male intrusion in female athletics.”
