The Arizona State Sun Devils’ offense certainly has room for improvement.
Arizona State scored 29 points in a 51-29 loss to Washington State on Wednesday night. Yes, 29 points over the entire game. And this was a home game for ASU, in Tempe.
The Washington State offense wasn’t much better in the first half, outscoring the Sun Devils 18-10, before a 33-19 difference in the second half.
ASU — who entered as a two-point underdog — shot 21.1% (12-of-57) from the field, 11.5% on threes (3-of-26), and 25% (2-of-8) at the free-throw line. DJ Horne (12) points was the only ASU player to score more than six points. And only three players had more than two points.
Yikes. It’s truly hard to be that bad. And that’s a pretty awful way to begin Pac-12 conference play.
Arizona State falls to 2-6 on the season, while Washington State improves to 6-1. Bobby Hurley’s ASU squad will hope to score at least 30 points when they face Oregon in Eugene on Sunday.
