The Golden State Warriors were struck with some unfortunate news when team president and general manager Bob Myers officially step down from his role with the team on Tuesday. This led to star point guard Stephen Curry sending him an emotional message of his gratitude for all that they have accomplished together.

Myers has an extremely impressive resume in Golden State, helping form four championship teams and hiring prominent head coach Steve Kerr.

This news didn’t come as much of a shock. Reports emerged earlier this month that the Warriors were “bracing” for Myers eventual departure after contract extension talks stalled for the past few months.

Curry was appreciative of all that Myers has done for the organization upon hearing this news. He took to Instagram to post a number of pictures with him along with a touching message to him.

“Before the trophies and the memories over this run, I remember telling you ‘you better get it right!’ And you did. The GM role was great and you did your thing, but forever grateful for you as a friend forever. Changed each other’s lives! Enjoy the next chapter my guy. Thank you Bob!”

The NBA world took notice of this message from Curry and are also appreciative for what he has given the organization.

Myers also had plenty of good things to say about Curry in an interview on Tuesday, praising Curry’s leadership which has undoubtedly made this Warriors team a true dynasty over the years.

“You can’t overstate who he is,” said Myers of Curry. “It’s so rare for someone of his caliber being who he is. People know him for what he does, but how lucky is this organization to have him as its leader? What a gift to me, and it is one that I can never repay.”

Myers certainly made his mark on NBA history as a general manager, and the Warriors will certainly look a whole lot different without him in the picture.
