Trayce Jackson-Davis, a four-year star for the Indiana Hoosiers was on the board when the Indiana Pacers were on the clock with the No. 47 overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft.
But while the Pacers had a chance to keep Jackson-Davis in the state, it did not happen. And he was not happy.
With the pick, the Pacers selected Mojave King, an NBA G League Ignite prospect.
Not long after, Jackson-Davis was on Twitter, promising vengeance.
He didn’t specifically name the Pacers, but only minutes after King was taken, Jackson-Davis tweeted, “Y’all will regret it… I promise you.”
A lot of fans seemed to be in Jackson-Davis’ corner.
i will shove any draftnik who convinces me that you should draft a 9.4 ppg guy in the g-league over TJD into a toilet. https://t.co/g4klULP4i0

Davis has deep ties to the state, the Indianapolis area and the Pacers.
He’s the biological son of Dale Davis, who was a star of the Pacers when they were annual contenders in the Eastern Conference in the 1990s. Jackson-Davis also went to high school in Greenwood, Indiana, a southern suburb of Indianapolis. So, this was a pick that made a lot of potential sense.
Jackson-Davis was also a star with the Hoosiers. He was a consensus first-team All-American for Indiana in 2023 and averaged a double-double, scoring 20.9 points and bringing in 10.8 rebounds a game as a senior.
