We’re only a month or so away from the most exciting part of the NBA calendar: playoff season. Right now, just the one team has secured its place to be there, and that’s the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference.
But it won’t be long at all before we see a few more teams finding their places to go on to fight to become the finals champion. Who’s it going to be? You’re going to need to know this info if you fancy placing some bets on what’s going to happen!

The NBA playoffs kick off on Saturday, April 16, and we can’t wait! But how’s it going to go down and who’s going to be there? These are a couple of the questions we’ll be looking to answer today, so don’t go anywhere, basketball fans!
Which teams will make it to the playoffs?
Right now, there’s only one team guaranteed to make it to the playoffs, and that is the Phoenix Suns. The defending Western Conference champions have had one heck of a season so far and absolutely deserve to be there. But who’ll be joining them?
In the west, the Golden State Warriors haven’t had the best season in the lead up to the playoffs. For a team that was easily the best in the world just a few years ago, their form has slipped and Steph Curry won’t be at all happy about that. Nonetheless, we’ll be absolutely stunned if they don’t make it to the playoffs.
The Memphis Grizzlies are looking good to be there. Plus, we’re impressed by the Minnesota Timberwolves right now and would love to see how far they can go in the playoffs.
Earlier on in the season, we would have fancied the chances of the Portland Trail Blazers to be there, but having suffered a horrendous losing streak, that’s no longer likely.
On the eastern side of things, the Miami Heat have nearly clinched their place already, and we’re not even slightly surprised about that. The Philadelphia 76ers look set to be joining them very soon indeed and third place Milwaukee Bucks have had a very strong season. They deserve a spot in the playoffs as well.
It would be a surprise not to see fourth place Chicago Bulls tagging along but keep an eye on the Cleveland Cavaliers – they always seem to pull something out of the bag and it wouldn’t be a proper playoff without them!
Who’s going all the way?
The biggest question on everyone’s minds is who is actually going to win the Eastern and Western conferences and go on to win the finals. So, let’s take a look at some of the possibilities.
In the Western Conference, it’s hard to imagine anyone other than the Phoenix Suns winning the playoffs. While they will face stiff competition, their dazzling form is making them an incredibly difficult team to beat lately and we don’t know if anyone else in the conference has quite enough quality to actually topple them.
In the east, it’s a little trickier to call. There’s a lot of quality up there at the top but the fact that Miami Heat are in the lead certainly says a lot. If you forced us to call that conference right now we wouldn’t have much choice but to go for them. That being said, the 76ers are looking really good as well…
Who would win out of the Suns and the Heat? While it would be lovely to say the Suns, thanks to their amazing form in 2021 and 2022, we’re just not sure if they have enough to overcome Miami. The Miami Heat are likely the best basketball team in the world right now and for that reason, we think they’re probably favorites to go the whole way.
Last notes on the 2022 NBA playoffs
It’s certainly been a crazy season so far and it’s only going to get crazier as we head into the playoffs. While it may look like things are going the way of the Suns and the Heat, you just don’t know in the NBA and that’s part of the beauty of it! We’ll just have to wait and see, and that’s okay with us.
