Stephen A. Smith had a lot to say on “First Take” Friday morning about friend Patrick Beverley and his behavior last night in a loss to the Indiana Pacers, 120-98 ending their season.
First of all, he threw a ball in the stands at a fan almost hitting a female, then he called out a female ESPN reporter for no apparent reason because she didn’t subscribe to his podcast.
Stephen A. was not happy and was disgusted by his actions.
“I can’t believe he did that, I just can’t believe he did that. I’ve known Patrick Beverley for years, I love the brother um it’s inexcusable, it’s indefensible,” Smith said when he talked about the ball incident.
“It’s not something that you do. That does not absolve you from exercising our professional decorum and your professional obligation to yourself and to the league you represent. You don’t do that!” he continued.
Smith also dragged Beverly for his behavior toward the female reporter, wondering out loud why didn’t he ask the same question to the male reporters in the room.
“Did you ask them if were they subscribers to your podcast? Did you refuse to talk to them? I cannot believe Pat Beverly did that,” he said. “But this is indefensible. I cannot defend it, one bit. it’s an incredibly bad look and a suspension is coming, you can book it.”
