San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama has about as much hype as any rookie in recent memory. This led to a ton of criticism in his first Summer League game earlier this week when he didn’t quite have the game that most expected he would. He bounced back in a big way in his second Summer League game on Sunday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Wembanyama’s defense was on full display in his first game, but his offensive arsenal left a lot to be desired. This wasn’t a problem in Sunday’s game, as he was able to score with ease against Portland.
He looked far more composed and worry-free in this game, finishing with 27 points while shooting 9-for-14 from the field, while also bringing in 12 rebounds and recording three blocks.
Those that were doubting him after his first game saw a whole different player in this matchup, and it seems pretty clear that Wembanyama is a star in the making.
Many took to social media to share their excitement and offer their analysis on his great game.
Victor Wembanyama’s second Summer League game:
27 points
12 rebounds (4 offensive)
3 blocks
1 steal
9-14 FG
2-4 3PT
7-12 FTA handful of otherworldly plays. I think he’s gonna be fine, guys.

Wembanyama’s first two Summer League games could not have gone differently, and this is probably an indication that he, like a lot of young players will go through some growing pains, but show some incredible flashes early in his career.
His defense has been the one thing that has been a constant in both games, and it seems to be pretty safe to say that he will be an elite-level shot blocker against any competition. That will make him an impact player even if his shot isn’t falling.
