On Sunday night, Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert went viral for all the wrong reasons when he punched teammate Kyle Anderson on the bench during a game against the New Orleans Pelicans. And it appears he’s being punished for the incident.
According to a report from NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski on Monday afternoon, the Minnesota Timberwolves have suspended Gobert for one game, meaning he will miss the play-in game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday but would rejoin the team for the following game.
“Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert isn’t traveling with [the] team to LA and won’t play vs. the Lakers on Tuesday in the Play-In tournament, sources tell ESPN,” Wojnarowski said in a tweet on Monday. “Gobert will serve a one-game suspension and is expected to return if the Wolves lose to the Lakers and play another play-in game, or advance into the Western Conference playoffs, sources said.”
It’s a massive update for a key player in the most important part of the season, and the NBA world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.
Minnesota traded four first-rounders (and a pick swap) and five players for Gobert. Two of those players — Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt — will be on the court Tuesday playing for the Lakers. Wild. https://t.co/VaTBOPzIhh

We’ll have to see how this will impact the team during the play-in game against the Lakers as well as the team’s chemistry going forward.
