Nick Young, whose lasting NBA legacy will likely end up being that gif of a premature celebration, was reportedly arrested in Hollywood last night after a traffic stop. Young was charged with obstruction of justice after apparently not complying with an officer, according to TMZ Sports:

Law enforcement sources tell us … the former Golden State Warriors star was pulled over just before midnight for a routine traffic violation when something went wrong.

We’re told the 33-year-old refused to cooperate with the officers on scene, and so he was arrested for obstruction of justice.

According to The Blast, Young was released today:

LAPD tells The Blast Young was stopped for a traffic violation shortly before midnight. He failed to cooperate, interfered with the officer’s investigation and was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice.  His vehicle was also impounded upon his arrest, and he bailed out of jail around 3 AM.

Just before his arrest, Young appeared to be at a basketball event for EA Sports with rapper Lil Dicky.

Obviously it’s always better to not be arrested than to be arrested, but on the relative scale, this isn’t that big of a deal. It is likely bad timing for Young, though, who remains an unsigned free agent. He spent last season winning a title with the Warriors, though, and he’s earned $38.6 million in his career despite having exactly one season with a positive VORP. (That year, 2016-2017, he finished at 0.5.)

So, he’s playing with house money at this point anyway, is the point.
