NBA MVP candidate Luka Dončić went down with a left calf strain at one of the worst possible times for himself and the Dallas Mavericks. In what wound up being a meaningless game for the Mavs’ playoff seeding, Dončić went down in the third quarter of the final game of the regular season against the San Antonio Spurs.
Dončić had an MRI and the Mavericks have some bad news for Mavs fans. Mavs PR revealed that Dončić’s left calf strain was confirmed and he is undergoing treatment. The team didn’t have a timetable for Dončić to return and didn’t specify the grade of strain.
This may make things easier for the Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs. The Jazz aren’t heartless, they weren’t hoping for an injury to their opponent’s top player but that’s the situation they’re facing and the Jazz are going to try and capitalize on that.
People reacted in various ways to the news. Some wished Dončić well in his recovery, some blamed head coach Jason Kidd for playing him in the first place while some expressed hope or concern about how they’ll do in the Jazz series.
Luka may not play in the playoffs because they played him in a meaningless game. https://t.co/RBejFiUDrA
