An ex-NBA star faces a lawsuit after getting involved in an altercation at Sunday’s NFL playoff game between the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers.
Matt Barnes faces a lawsuit after the former NBA champion allegedly got into it with his fiancée’s ex-husband.
TMZ reported about the lawsuit on Friday afternoon. Fox News wrote, “David Patterson Jr., the ex-husband of Barnes’ fiancée, says Barnes caused him injury and emotional distress during the Dallas Cowboys-San Francisco 49ers divisional round game Sunday.
“Patterson claims the two started yelling at one another from about 20 feet away on a concourse inside the stadium. Barnes then walked up to him and allegedly spit in Patterson’s face. Patterson is suing for battery, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress,” the report about the NBA champion’s incident from Fox News wrote.
The TMZ report indicated that the ex-NBA star filed a restraining order against Patterson. “For his part, Barnes said in an application for a temporary restraining order against Patterson Jr. earlier this week that his fiancee’s ex was the one who had been harassing him and making threats against him over the past few months,” TMZ wrote.
The incident between the former NBA Champion and his ex-fiancée’s husband occurred in the concourse at Levi’s Stadium. TMZ provided a video of the altercation between the two.
According to TMZ, the two sides will converge again on February 16.
