The NBA world buzzed Sunday with the news that Kyrie Irving has been traded to the Dallas Mavericks.

LeBron James kept his thoughts on the matter short and sweet.

The Los Angeles Lakers had been viewed as the favorites to acquire the disgruntled Brooklyn Nets star. But the Mavericks prevailed, landing Irving in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a first-round pick and multiple second-round selections. The Nets are also sending Markieff Morris to Dallas.

So the Lakers got shut out, and James’ reaction on Twitter after the trade news said it all.

The NBA world quickly went to work poking fun at the tweet.

“Minimum of three ‘Undisputed’ segments on this tweet alone tomorrow,” tweeted a fan.

“You are Him, but it ain’t you Champ,” tweeted Amir Zonozi.

“We brought Russell Westbrook here off his original co-sign … amazing how that’s all just forgotten because it didn’t work out. And now we’re trying to package that mistake into something that’s going to make us a contender?” noted one fan.

We’ll never know how a James-Irving reunion might have gone this season. James will have to console himself in the short term with the fact that he is just 36 points away from breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s NBA career scoring record.
