New York Knicks forward Cleanthony Early was shot in the right knee early Wednesday morning outside of a Queens strip club, according to the New York Daily News.
The attack came at the hands of four to six men, two of which were reportedly armed with guns. They proceeded to rob Early, 24, of his belongings, including a gold necklace and gold caps on his teeth.
According to the Daily News report, the shooting happened at 4:15 a.m. near CityScapes gentlemen’s club in Queens. Early was reportedly accompanied by his girlfriend. The couple was in an Uber when three cars boxed them in and the robbery occurred, with Early gaving up his money, gold caps on his teeth, two gold chains, and his iPhone 6.
Early was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries. Rookie Kristaps Porzingis sent well wishes to his teammate on Twitter:
The Knicks released the following statement Wednesday morning regarding the situation:

Early, who grew up in the Bronx, has appeared in 10 games for the Knicks this season, but received extremely limited playing time after injuries and stints in the D-League since entering the NBA in 2014. The right knee that was shot also received arthroscopic surgery last November. Prior to his strip club excursion, Early played 30 seconds in Tuesday’s 108-96 win over the Detroit Pistons at Madison Square Garden.
He is the second player on the team who has had off the court troubles this month. Derrick Williams had $600,000 worth of jewelry disappear from his apartment after partying with a couple of women who he alleges took the items in question.
