There have been a ton of excellent three-point shooters throughout the history of the NBA. Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray has surprisingly put his name into that category by breaking a significant record on Wednesday night.
Murray has proven that he has a bright future in his rookie season, averaging 11.9 points per game along with 4.6 rebounds while shooting 40.7 percent on three-point attempts. While these numbers are solid, it doesn’t exactly scream NBA record breaker. However, that is exactly what he did on Wednesday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.
The former Iowa standout broke the NBA record for the most threes made by a rookie with his 188th three made of the season.
Perhaps even more impressive is that Murray is also the most efficient three-point shooter as a rookie with at least 400 attempts.

Keegan Murray now holds the NBA all-time single-season 3-point record for rookies and has done it with the highest percentage (40.7%) ever for a first-year player with 400+ attempts.

Many took notice of this record broken by him and gave him his deserved props on social media for what has been a very underrated and underrecognized season.
Keegan Murray, more 3s than any rookie in NBA history. Impressive stuff from the Kings’ No. 4 pick.

Keegan Murray is generally used as the fourth or fifth option in the offense for the 3 seed in the West and just set the rookie record for 3PM with six games left to go.

Sacramento has shocked everyone this season, coming into this game as the third seed in the Western Conference. Murray has quietly been a big piece of that success. It’s very clear that both Murray and the entire Kings team deserve far more recognition than they are getting.
It remains to be seen just how far this underdog Kings team will go this season. Regardless, they undoubtedly have a future building block on their hands in new NBA record holder Keegan Murray.
