The Phoenix Suns made the Kevin Durant announcement that everyone was waiting for. On Tuesday, the Suns revealed that Durant, who the team acquired in a massive deal before the trade deadline, would suit up for the first time this Friday against the Charlotte Hornets.
“Kevin Durant is expected to make his Phoenix Suns debut tomorrow in Charlotte,” the Suns announced to fanfare on Twitter.
Phoenix acquired Durant from the Brooklyn Nets in a blockbuster trade on February 9 involving T.J. Warren, Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Jae Crowder, and multiple draft picks.
They sit 4th in the NBA Western Conference as of writing, 10 games behind first-place Denver. Adding Durant, of course, is viewed as a potentially massive move for the Suns. The team hopes to get their first NBA Championship and are two years removed from an NBA Finals appearance. They, however, lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games.
The NBA world reacted to the massive Kevin Durant announcement.
“LETS GOOOOOOO!” tweeted MMA Fighting editor Shaheen Al-Shatti, a Kevin Durant fan.
A Hornets writer proclaimed the team’s active win streak was about to end.
Another fan claimed that the “Best player in the world” was back.

The Burns and Gambo show in Phoenix seemed delighted with the news.
And Jackson Lloyd claimed now was time to “get your jabs in.”
