Jayson Tatum had an incredible, historic night in the Boston Celtics’ 143-140 overtime victory over the San Antonio Spurs at TD Garden.
Tatum tied the Celtics’ franchise record with 60 points, matching Larry Bird (March 12, 1985). He scored 31 points over the fourth quarter and overtime, and led Boston to a 32-point comeback victory.
The Celtics trailed by 32 points late in the second quarter and 29 points at halftime. The 29-point halftime deficit makes for the second-biggest comeback from halftime in NBA history.
Tatum even reached those 60 points rather efficiently, shooting 20-of-37 on field goals, 5-of-7 on three-pointers, and 15-of-17 on free throws. He also pulled down eight rebounds, dished out five assists, and had no turnovers.
Amazing performance by Tatum, who’s still just 23 and has much more greatness ahead in his career.
