Without Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the Brooklyn Nets erased a 24-point deficit to take down the Phoenix Suns 128-124 on Tuesday night. The Nets never even led the game until James Harden nailed what would serve as a game-winning three with 29.8 seconds remaining.
The Nets trailed by 21 points at halftime, making this their biggest comeback from a halftime deficit in franchise history.
Brooklyn outscored Phoenix 40-24 in the fourth quarter. The Suns led 124-116 after Chris Paul made a three with 2:48 remaining, and they never scored again.
Harden was terrific, scoring a game-high 38 points — on 14-of-22 shooting from the field and 8-of-8 at the charity stripe — and dishing out a game-high 11 assists.
The Nets don’t win this game without the Jan. 13 blockbuster trade that sent Harden from the Houston Rockets to Brooklyn. It’s scary to think how good this team could be once Harden, Durant, and Irving are all on the court consistently and get more comfortable playing with each other.
