In March, LaVar Ball said that in his prime, he would “kill Michael Jordan one-on-one.” The (very) outspoken father of Lakers rookie point guard Lonzo Ball followed those comments up in June by saying he would’ve made Jordan cry in a game of one-on-one.
Well, it turns out that LaVar can’t even beat a rapper in a basketball shooting competition. Ice Cube took down LaVar in the “4-point Challenge” on Sunday night at Staples Center, where the BIG3 is on its latest stop.
If we’re being honest, there were no real winners in this four-point shooting competition; the shooting was dreadful. But Ice Cube’s two “four-point” shots (30-foot shots) made over 70 seconds were more than LaVar’s one shot made.
Here’s video that will never be shown to kids at basketball camps, unless the instructors are using it as an example of why the kids should never listen to what Lavar Ball says.
The contest took place after Ice Cube — the BIG3 co-founder — challenged Ball to it in May:
Ball accepted the challenge on Friday, saying “you know I hit them shots with my eyes closed”:
What we learned is that he can make only 1-of-14 such shots with his eyes open.
