Memphis Grizzlies guard John Konchar is considered one of the NBA’s great development stories. That development will continue as Memphis has signed him to a three-year, $19 million contract extension, per Adrian Wojnarowski.
The extension means that Konchar is now under contract through the 2026-27 season.
Konchar, who played college basketball for the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons, signed a two-way contract with the Grizzlies in 2019 after going undrafted. After starting his rookie years with the Memphis Hustle of the G League and playing in just 19 games for the Grizzlies, the 26-year-old has elevated his play and made himself a key member of the rotation on a team that finished this past season with the second-best record in the NBA.
Not only did Konchar appear in 72 games for Memphis last season but he also averaged career highs in points and assists while doing so. He shot 44.8% on 3-pointers off the bench, which was third-best among NBA players with a minimum of 100 attempts, per ESPN.
As news of the extension made its way across social media, many in the NBA world lauded the news and shared their excitement for seeing the Grizzlies player known as “Jitty,” who will now see his career earnings reach $30 million.
