The Golden State Warriors will almost certainly have a new look to their team following the 2022-2023 season.
Hours after guard Jordan Poole agreed to a massive extension with the franchise, news broke of All-Star Andrew Wiggins signing a four-year, $109 million extension that would keep him a Warrior through the next five seasons. The extensions of Poole and Wiggins almost certainly foretell the exit of All-Star forward Draymond Green following the season, even without factoring in his recent assault at practice.
The NBA world was quick to react to the news:
Wiggins’ second contract being almost immediately considered an albatross followed by his third contract immediately looking like a steal is pretty hilarious. https://t.co/wbZn1BnoKb

“Huh! That’s a bit less than I expected. Wonder if the Warriors are benefitting here from Wiggins having made 170M guaranteed already and just being happy to have found a real fit/home that makes sense,” Sam Vecenie wrote.
“The Warriors’ player salary + luxury tax bill next year just went from the total GDP of Micronesia to Tonga. Samoa is within reach in 2025,” Rob Perez wrote.
“Draymond has to swing on him too,” Zito wrote.
“Damn, I thought I had an expensive Saturday b/c I bought two pairs of Jordan’s I don’t need and lost $10 on stupid parlay… [Warriors owner] Joe Lacob got me beat,” Tommy Beer tweeted.
The Golden State Warriors tip off their 2022-23 campaign on Tuesday, Oct. 18th, when they host the Los Angeles Lakers. The Warriors are 14-point favorites.
