The New York Knicks lost again tonight, getting spanked by the Portland Trail Blazers 104-85 at Madison Square Garden. The loss, the club’s 11th in their past 13 games, further pushes New York out of the playoff contention and closer to the basement of the Eastern Conference with a poor 25-37 record.
Things got so bad, during tonight’s loss Carmelo Anthony responded to a heckler by pointing to Knicks owner James Dolan and saying “he’s the owner, ask him for your money back.”
The suggestion is hilarious but sad. You think Carmelo is sick and tired of unfairly taking the blame for the state of the team?
New York was at .500 just over a month ago and since then the team has floundered, firing head coach Derek Fisher while the current roster consistently provides fans with uninspired performances. Yes, Kristaps Porzingis will always be a bright spot and should have fans in New York excited about his potential, but his selection seems more like a fluke than part of a big structured plan to success. Things have gotten so ugly, fans are crying out for 10-day signee Jimmer Fredette.
Carmelo is right to redirect blame, Dolan has assembled a underwhelming organization top to bottom. Fans should be asking for their money back.
