Former NBA lottery pick Sebastian Telfair was arrested on Sunday in Brooklyn for possessing various weapons, ammunition, and marijuana.
Pix 11 reports that police noticed Telfair parking his truck in an illegal spot with 18-year-old Jami Thomas, and Telfair started driving away without turning his headlights on. NYPD then stopped Telfair, and found three loaded firearms, one semi-automatic rifle, a bulletproof vest, a “large quantity” of ammunition, and two bags of marijuana.
Telfair, 32, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a ballistic vest, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
The former 10-year NBA point guard was also arrested in 2007 on a gun charge, and was suspended for three games by the NBA.
Telfair was drafted out of high school by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 13th overall pick in the 2004 draft, and went on to be an NBA journeyman, playing with the Blazers, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors, and most recently the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2014-15. He averaged 7.4 points and 3.5 assists over 564 career games.
