Former Los Angeles Clippers guard Reggie Jackson was traded earlier this week to the Charlotte Hornets. However, it does not appear to be a long tenure in Charlotte.

Jackson and the Hornets are reportedly finalizing a contract buyout. He is also deciding to sign with a somewhat surprising team in a subsequent move.

Reports emerged earlier this week detailing that Jackson was interested in reuniting with former teammate Kevin Durant and signing with the Phoenix Suns.

He instead decided to join potentially one of the Suns’ biggest immediate threats in the Western Conference, signing with the Denver Nuggets according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Many view the Suns as the clear favorite to potentially come out of the West. Given his reported interest in joining Phoenix, this surprising move has garnered a ton of reactions on social media.

It is certainly worth noting that Jackson is from Colorado Springs, Colorado, which is about an hour from Denver. This homecoming along with the Nuggets currently sitting atop the Western Conference had to be an enticing factor for Jackson.

This move could undoubtedly be a move that will help the Nuggets as they push toward the postseason. While Jackson will likely come off the bench behind star point guard Jamal Murray, he had been an integral part of many good Clippers teams in recent years.

The 12-year NBA pro is averaging 10.9 points per game along with 3.5 assists this season thus far, and could potentially be heading toward a key role off the Nuggets’ bench.
