DeMar DeRozan is not happy.
About two weeks ago, Sports Illustrated released its ranking of the NBA’s Top 100 players. After seeing his spot in the rankings Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan has a bone to pick with SI.
The Toronto guard came in at No. 46 in the Top 100. After a strong 2015-16 season and a spot on the U.S. Olympic team, DeRozan revealed that he isn’t pleased with his ranking:
DeRozan’s dismay continued:
Looking at what has happened in the last year-plus, it might be hard to argue with DeRozan. He averaged 23.5 points per game during the 2015-16 season and was a major factor in the Raptors making it to the Eastern Conference finals.
And in such typical athlete fashion, DeRozan plans on using this ranking as motivation.
It’s fine to want to motivate yourself and think others are doubting you, but at a certain point it becomes a bit more insecurity than motivation. It’s one list, and he’s only 26 years old. There’s plenty of time for him to move up.
