The NBA community was devastated earlier this season when one of the league’s brightest young stars, Victor Wembanyama, was ruled out for the season after being diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis (known more commonly as a blood clot).
Unfortunately, now another superstar in the league, this time a veteran, has suffered the same condition, according to one prominent league insider.
“Milwaukee Bucks: Damian Lillard has sustained a deep vein thrombosis (blood clot) in his right calf. Lillard is on blood-thinning medication, which has stabilized the blood clot, and will continue with regular testing. He is out indefinite period,” reported ESPN’s Shams Charania on Tuesday evening.
Fans reacted to the horrible news on social media.
“People forget, basketball players are not regular athletes these guys are taller than most and travel in cramped spaces often even in team planes the constant travel can affect their blood and cause irregular clothing,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“another player with blood clots?? prayers Dame,” one fan added
Hopefully, Lillard is able to make a full recovery and his health returns as soon as possible.
