The Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards are reportedly discussing a blockbuster trade that would see three stars, including Kristaps Porzingis, change teams.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday that the three teams are in “serious talks.” According to the report, the Wizards would send Porzingis to Boston, while the Celtics would send Brogdon to the Clippers. Finally, the Clippers would trade Morris and draft compensation to Washington.
Charania noted a league source said the deal is a “high possibility.” So this potential blockbuster sounds more done than not, given his report.
The 7-foot-3 Porzingis, who scored a career-high 23.2 points per game last season, is obviously the biggest star in the deal, but Brogdon is a career 15.4 ppg scorer as a playmaker. The 6-foot-8 Morris averaged 11.2 points per contest last season, although he’s a below-average defender.
News of the trade caught the NBA world by surprise, and reactions were all over the place.
Discarding the 6th Man of the Year like that for a needed low post scoring presence is what Brad Stevens is doing here with Porzingis in, Brogdon out. https://t.co/JJP7v2LQyi
