It appeared that Brandon Ingram had won the game for the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday night against the Utah Jazz, when he nailed this go-ahead jumper with 0.2 seconds remaining in regulation.
But Utah’s Rudy Gobert was fouled on the ensuing possession, and made one of two free throws to send the game to overtime.
In overtime, the Pelicans outscored the Jazz 16-10 to come away with a 138-132 victory, snapping Utah’s 10-game winning streak. Ingram had five points in the extra period, and finished with a career-high 49 points (15-of-25 FG, 16-of-20 FT).
Ingram, 22, is having a terrific first season on the Pelicans after spending his previous three seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers (he was part of the Anthony Davis trade). The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft is averaging 25.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. With Zion Williamson set to return soon and join Ingram in the lineup, the Pelicans should be very entertaining to watch.
