*UPDATE: Davis was able to return to the game in the second half.
The Los Angeles Lakers fought their way into the playoffs with a late-season surge and a play-in-game victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, but they got some absolutely horrible luck in the first game of their opening-round series against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday afternoon when star Anthony Davis appeared to suffer an injury.
Toward the end of the first half of Sunday afternoon’s game, Anthony Davis crashed the boards in an attempt to secure an offensive rebound. But during his rebound attempt, his right arm appeared to hit another player in a strange and unfortunate way, leading to some sort of injury that caused his arm to go numb.
As he walked off the court after suffering the brutal injury, Davis could be seen saying “I can’t move my arm.” He was then taken back to the locker room for further evaluation.
If Davis has any sort of long-term injury, it would obviously be a major blow to the Lakers’ chances in the series. As a result, the brutal reaction to the horrible injury has since gone viral on social media.
It’s safe to say that Lakers fans will be eagerly awaiting any updates on his status and health as it is released.
