It’s not every dunk that also includes a shot to the groin of an opposing player, but Minnesota Timberwolves’ star Andrew Wiggins managed that against New Orleans Pelicans’ forward Nikola Mirotic Wednesday. Here’s the clip:
The “Yikes” there from analyst David Wesley is great, as his follow-up of an awkward chuckle and “Andrew kind of used Niko Mirotic as a stepping stool.” That’s one way to put it. Oh, and this play also started with a remarkable block from Karl-Anthony Towns at the other end, as can be seen in this slightly-earlier version of the clip:

This was a crucial dunk, giving the Timberwolves a six-point lead inside the final two minutes. They would go on to win 107-100, in their second game after trading Jimmy Butler to Philadelphia Sunday. Oh, and this wasn’t the end of a rough night for Mirotic:
Damnit. Not just a loss but Nikola Mirotic reaggravated his right ankle sprain during the final seconds of this game.

Well, that’s not great. So he suffered a wound to the ankle, a wound to the pride, and a wound to the groin, all in the final minutes of this game.
