There has been much speculation in recent months regarding a potential celebrity MMA fight between Twitter/X CEO Elon Musk and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. However, those talks, which had quieted down anyway, were put on hold for the foreseeable future due to an unfortunate injury that Zuckerberg has suffered.
According to Zuckerberg, he had been training for an MMA fight against someone else other than Musk.
This is where he unfortunately suffered a torn ACL, which he had surgery to repair on Friday.
In his post-surgery Instagram post, Zuckerberg further explained the situation, detailing that he suffered the injury while sparring.
“Tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it,” wrote Zuckerberg. “Grateful for the doctors and team taking care of me. I was training for a competitive MMA fight early next year, but now that’s delayed a bit. Still looking forward to doing it after I recover. Thanks to everyone for the love and support.”
Fans took to social media to offer their best wishes to him as he begins his road to recovery.

Zuckerberg is 39 years of age, not exactly the prime of most people’s athletic careers. So this ACL injury could be a serious setback if he still wants to compete in an MMA fight in the future.
