The sports world has been highly anticipating a potential MMA fight between social media moguls Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. And UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski had some serious praise for Zuckerberg’s skills after a recent training session with him
Volkanovski is amongst the best pound-for-pound fighters in the UFC, recording a 12-1 UFC record while defending his UFC featherweight title five times over the past four years.
It doesn’t get much more credentialed for mixed martial arts than Volkanovski, and he recently spoke about Zuckerberg’s skills in the sport after training with him.
“I guarantee you guys would be very surprised,” Volkanovski said of Zuckerberg’s skills on an appearance on TMZ Sports show on FS1. “I mean you can see that he’s in shape but he really is in shape. It’s not just looks, he really is, mate. He trains, he’s pretty athletic, he’s coordinated and he’s committed. He’s got a passion for it.”
He went on to say that he is not sure how serious Elon Musk is taking the potential fight, but if he is slacking at all he could be in for a rude awakening.
“I’m telling you he’s serious. I don’t know how serious Elon is, but I’m telling you, he’s training,” Volkanovski added.
Elon Musk has also reportedly been training for the fight, even receiving praise in his own right from first-degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu Lex Fridman.
We are still awaiting a potential fight date, but both Zuckerberg and Musk appear to be dead set on making this fight actually happen.
